Le Passé Composé

Le Passé Composé

The past tense in French is very basic when used with regular -er verbs.  You take a subject + verb, such as “Je nage” and you change it to be “I have swum” – “J’ai nagé.”  You always use a conjugation of “avoir” with the pronoun.

ex:

Je nage           -->    J’ai nagé
Tu nages         -->   Tu as nagé
Il nage            -->    Il a nagé
On nage          -->   On a nagé
Nous nageons -->   Nous avons nagé
Vous nagez      -->  Vous avez nagé
Ils nagent         -->  Ils ont nagé

1.   Write the “nager” example above in your NOTES.
2.   Now please tell me 3 things you did over the past weekend in the past tense, using the following verbs only:

regarder, skier, danser, parler, visiter, voyager, travailler, acheter, aimer, chercher, étudier, écouter, donner, jouer, manger, laver, ranger

*DO NOT REPEAT ANY EXACT SENTENCE YOU SEE IN THE COMMENTS.  If you see a sentence that says, “j’ai dansé,” you may only use that if you change it, as well: “j’ai dansé à Preference avec mon petit ami.”
